Sometimes you find shots you could never have asked for. Minnesuing is in the North Woods of Wisconsin, and I had risen early to catch the sunrise. It was the first cold day of fall … in the 20s … and the first thin membrane of ice had formed on the lake’s shallows overnight. The perspective of the clouds and mirroring of the sky in the lake nearly looks artificial (it’s real, trust me), and the loon was merely icing on the cake. My hands were cold, but the moment was worthwhile.
